All Butter Pie Crust Recipe

I won’t use shortening and this turns out well. This recipe is from All Recipes and has almost a 5 star rating.

George made it last night. He added the exact amount of water and to me, it seemed too dry. He insisted the dough would come together and kept working it. It did.

He chilled the dough overnight. Today, it was difficult to work with. We’ll try this recipe again chilling for maybe just 30 minutes to an hour and see if that’s any better.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup ice water

Directions

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
Roll dough out to fit a 9 inch pie plate. Place crust in pie plate. Press the dough evenly into the bottom and sides of the pie plate.
