Iced Tea

  • 3 regular Luizianne tea bags
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 gallon water

Bring a small pot of water to a boil; take off heat. Add the tea bags and steep for exactly 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and discard. Mix the sugar into the hot tea mixture until it dissolves. Pour the tea/sugar mixture into a half gallon pitcher and fill with cold water.

    Simple Syrup Variation:
If you’re having company, a good idea is to make simple syrup (equal parts water & sugar – bring to a boil then cool) & prepare the tea without sugar. Allow your guests to sweeten their own tea.

    Mint Variation:
Add fresh mint to the teapot while steeping.
Make a tray of ice with fresh mint leaves placed in each cube.

    Ghetto Variation:
Use 1.5 cups of sugar if you like your tea ghetto sweet.

Those are great tips Carmen. We’re also seeing that Truvia works well in iced tea. It seems to work best mixed in the hot solution and you just have to play around to find out how many packs you like for the iced tea pitcher you use.
