Chinese Almond Cookies

Amber wrote this recipe out in elementary school and it’s still in my recipe box. These are really good cookies too.

Pre-heat oven to 350.


  • 1 cup butter (the original recipe called for shortening)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 small pack of almonds
  • 1 tablespoon water

Cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla, water, and the egg. Add flour 1 cup at a time. Stir in almonds. Roll into balls the size of a walnut. Place on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
